Jonathan Laws
– Trainee Solicitor –
Jonathan is a Trainee Solicitor at Rix & Kay in his final seat, currently working within the Corporate team. Jonathan is supporting our solicitors with a range of corporate matters.
Joining Rix & Kay in October 2023 as a Corporate Paralegal, Jonathan assisted our solicitors on matters dealing with business acquisitions and disposals, corporate restructuring and corporate governance, etc.
He began his training contract with his first seat in Commercial Property. Eager to apply the knowledge, skills, and experience he had gained from Corporate, he immersed himself in a range of transactions, including the sale and purchase of commercial properties, the grant and renewal of business leases, and commercial property planning. For his second seat, Jonathan joined the Rix & Kay Dispute Resolution team, where he supported the team in handling various commercial and property disputes, as well as debt recovery matters.
Prior to joining Rix & Kay, Jonathan studied law at the University of Exeter and then the Legal Practice Course at BPP University in Cambridge.
Experience and approach
From a young age Jonathan wanted to be involved in the law, as it is such a relevant and dynamic sector. He is particularly interested in the way in which law and business intersect.
Jonathan provides support to the senior lawyers in the team in order to achieve our goal of making law easy for our clients.
Jonathan has the benefit of being trilingual, having grown up in France and Portugal.
Outside of work, Jonathan enjoys watching football, rugby and playing golf.
Jonathan is also one of Rix & Kay’s representatives at Jurismus, the junior lawyers’ division of Eurojuris International.
