Dominic’s work

Wills – Life interest trusts

Dominic regularly drafts wills which incorporate a life interest in an estate, or in the family home, for the surviving partner.

A life interest is a type of trust which enables the testator (the person making the Will) to provide security for their partner or spouse by granting a right to stay in the family home, or a right to income from savings or investments, but also secure the testator’s interest in the home or the capital in their estate for their children or grandchildren, after their partner has passed away.

This arrangement is becoming more and more popular and is often a useful option for blended families.
