Conservation and adventure expeditions
Rix & Kay has an impressive track record of supporting a range of innovative and unique projects. Our work has seen us support arctic expeditions to truly revolutionary and life changing healthcare initiates.
Rix & Kay is a member of the Legal Sector Alliance (LSA), an inclusive movement of law firms and organisations committed to working collaboratively to take action on climate change.
The firm’s reputation in this niche area has allowed it to work alongside inspiring explorers and entrepreneurs who are making a global impact on the way we live.
Catlin Arctic Expedition
In 2008, the firm advised the Catlin Arctic Survey Team, led by Pen Hadow and Ann Daniels in connection with their surface survey of the Arctic Ocean’s sea ice cover. The project successfully measured the thickness of the ice to show how fast it is ‘declining’. Rix & Kay advised the project team on a wide range of legal issues, who also had top-level backing from the likes of the BBC, the WWF and Prince Charles.
Flight of the Swans
In 2017 the firm advised the Wildfowl and Wetlands Trust (WWT) in connection with the ‘Flight of the Swans’ expedition which saw Sacha Dench para-motor the entire length of the Autumn migration route of the Bewick’s Swan.
“WWT is incredibly grateful to the many people and organisations that have already generously supported Flight of the Swans. It’s wonderful is that we work with businesses and charities and individuals that have a genuine interest in the conservation and environmental issues we’re trying to address. We thank Rix & Kay for their terrific contribution.”
Flight of the Osprey
In August 2019 and following the success of ‘Flight of the Swans’, Sacha Dench announced her next project, ‘Flight of the Osprey’, as part of Conservation without Borders. In 2020, Sacha will her follow the osprey’s migratory route from Scotland to West Africa. Rix & Kay is proud to support this important conservation expedition as the official provider of legal services.
