Rix & Kay promotes partner to lead its growing corporate practice

South East law firm, Rix & Kay has promoted Sara Carpenter, Partner and member of the firm’s Strategic Board, to lead its thriving corporate team.

Sara joined Rix & Kay from a London practice in 2014 to drive the firm’s corporate presence in Kent. She has more than 13 years’ experience as a corporate lawyer with excellent experience in corporate advisory and transactional work garnered at a prominent South East regional firm and a London practice. During the period since joining, the wider corporate team of the firm has grown in strength and depth in respect of the transactions undertaken and the team delivering the offering.

Sara takes over from Bruce Hayter who has been appointed Chairman of Rix & Kay. Sara will lead the firm’s corporate team that consists of five partners and five other professionals. The team provide the full range of corporate services to clients predominantly based in Sussex, Surrey, Kent and London.

Sara’s recent regional deals include

  • The sale of Broadham Care, who deliver Epilepsy, Autism and Learning Disability services to clients through eight care homes in the South East to Elysium Healthcare, taking the number of care homes under their management to in excess of 40.
  • Advising Brighton based Smarter Shows on the sale of The Battery Show North America to UBM’s Advanced Manufacturing Group, the leading events producer for the global $3 trillion advanced manufacturing industry, with eight annual and three biennial events.
  • The majority share sale of TAPE Consultancy to EurodataTV Worldwide, the international audience analysis division of Mediamétrie. TAPE Consultancy is a London based consultancy company providing specialist services for global media professionals in the television and film industries.

In March 2018, the Sussex team completed the sale of Parker Building Supplies, an independent builders’ merchant based in the South East of England to Edinburgh-based Cairngorm Capital Partners.
