Rix & Kay hire Partner to lead insolvency practice

11th October 2018

South East based law firm, Rix & Kay, has announced the hire of leading insolvency lawyer, Richard Ludlow, who joins as Partner. Richard will be responsible for leading the firm’s established dispute resolution team and building the firm’s insolvency practice across Kent, Sussex and London. He will be based in the firm’s Sevenoaks and Ashford offices.

Richard joins from London based insolvency specialists, Francis Wilks & Jones, but has also held roles in the government’s Insolvency Service and Treasury Solicitor’s Department as well as in large regional firms in Kent and Sussex. Whilst working at the Insolvency Service and Treasury Solicitor he was involved with investigating failing companies and taking action, including the disqualification, against the directors involved. His experience of working for the government and also in private practice means that he has a unique set of skills to call upon when advising clients on the issues they face.

Richard specialises in acting for Liquidators in bringing claims against directors, as well as for defending directors who are subject to claims by liquidators. In addition, Richard has a unique understanding, from his previous roles, of the skills required to defend directors subject to directors disqualification proceedings.

Richard Cripps, Rix & Kay’s Managing Partner comments,

“Rix & Kay will continue to seek opportunities that ensure our clients have access to the very best legal services that compliment and add to the comprehensive services we already excel in. As our corporate offering goes from strength-to-strength, we felt it was important to ensure we could support directors and companies who may be encountering financial scrutiny, particularly as the wider economy remains uncertain. Richard Ludlow’s appointment is part of our growth strategy and another great example of our ability to proactively respond to market conditions”.

Richard Ludlow comments,

“I’m confident I can bring a level of expertise that truly separates Rix & Kay from many other regional law firms and I’m looking forward to working with the IPs and Accountants I know across the region to build a great practice here at Rix & Kay. Together, we can offer high level advice to companies that need to consider restructuring to ensure they can remain trading profitably and directors that may face disqualification claims”.
