If the employer has atypical workers such as casual workers and the self-employed, they need to carefully consider how the employment contracts and employee handbooks should be drafted.
Employment T&Cs
In accordance with the Good Work Plan, which came into force on 6 April 2020, employers must issue all new employees and workers a statement of terms on or before their first day of employment. Whilst failure to provide the statement does not provide an employee with a stand-alone claim in the Employment Tribunal, if they are successful in another claim, then the absence of a statement of terms could increase the compensation they receive.
