Rix & Kay Solicitors were honoured to once again support the annual Sussex Sports and Physical Activity Awards hosted by Active Sussex, celebrating outstanding contributions to health, community engagement, inclusivity & diversity and sustainability across Sussex’s sports and physical activity network.
The ceremony, held on Thursday, 28th November at Sussex County Cricket Club, was an inspiring evening recognising those making a real difference within the sporting community.
Anthony Statham, Interim CEO of Active Sussex, remarked:
“The entries for this year’s Sussex Sport & Physical Activity Awards have been exceptional. It’s inspiring to see so many individuals, clubs, and organisations making a real difference through sport and physical activity, improving health, building community, and breaking down barriers—all united by the shared goal of getting Sussex moving.”
Rix & Kay’s Angela Arnold, Partner and Head of Residential Property at Rix & Kay Solicitors, proudly presented the Inclusion and Diversity Award for several years, She commented:
“It’s a tremendous privilege to be part of an event that celebrates inclusivity and diversity, highlighting individuals and organisations breaking down barriers in sport.
At Rix & Kay, we are deeply committed to fostering inclusion and diversity in all areas of life -whether in grassroots sports, education, or the workplace. Our longstanding partnership with Active Sussex underscores our dedication to these values, and we are proud to continue supporting this initiative in 2024.”
Congratulations to the 2024 winners of the Rix & Kay Inclusion & Diversity Award, South Coast Sports Coaching, for their outstanding efforts in empowering marginalised communities through initiatives such as providing one-on-one active interventions for children and young people with additional needs and their highly attended summer programs for SEND children. Special recognition also goes to the runners-up, Freedom Leisure and Parable Dance, for their inspiring contributions.
Another highlight of the evening was Tim Brown from Eastbourne Borough Football Club, winner of the Outstanding Contribution to Sport & Physical Activity Award. With 40 years of dedication to the football community, Tim’s recent launch of a Youth Disability Coaching Programme for players aged 18+ is a significant achievement. The programme not only teaches participants how to coach youth football but also encourages them to engage in play, promoting both inclusion and empowerment.
Rix & Kay is proud to continue its ongoing support for the Sussex Sports and Physical Activity Awards and looks forward to championing the continued advancements in diversity and inclusivity across the Sussex region.
