Rix & Kay appoints Associate to expand Employment Team

Sussex and Kent-based law firm Rix & Kay has announced the hire of employment lawyer, Matthew Grant, who joins the firm as an Associate. The appointment strengthens the firm’s Employment Team in the region and further supports Rix & Kay’s continued recruitment drive. In January 2024 the firm announced the hire of two new solicitors, three new trainee solicitors and five other legal professionals.

Matthew Grant joins Rix & Kay from regional law firm Gaby Hardwicke and will be responsible for growing the firm’s employment practice across the region.  With almost 15 years’ experience in employment law, Matthew specialises in advising businesses across a range of sectors. He is one of the few employment lawyers in the region who is also well versed in resolving shareholder and director disputes.

Commenting on his appointment, Matthew Grant said,

“I’m delighted to have joined such a strong team. Together, we can offer real expertise to businesses who need strategic employment law advice. On a personal note, Rix & Kay offered me an opportunity to further my career and play a part in the future leadership of the businesses. They demonstrated a structured approach to career progression and an opportunity to join a friendly and down-to-earth team. Needless say, I’m really excited to be starting the next chapter of my career”.

Commenting on Matthew’s arrival, Kathryn Paisley, Partner said,

“Matthew has all the potential to play a significant role in the future of Rix & Kay and I’m really quite proud that we are able to offer him that opportunity. The firm is committed to developing people like Matthew right across our business and, with the right level of support from us, we know that individuals with ambition and self-determination will thrive”.

Rix & Kay’s latest appointment follows an exceptionally busy period for the firm that has seen no fewer than ten other professionals recently joining the firm. In March, Rix & Kay also confirmed the appointment of Pia Unwin who joins as a Licensed Conveyancer in the firm’s Residential Property Team. Pia has almost ten years’ experience as a Licensed Conveyancer having spent time at Gaby Hardwicke and most recently Buss Murton Law.
