Rix & Kay advises on sale of family owned manufacturer to global export business
Rix & Kay’s Corporate Team, led by Kathryn Paisley, and supported by Daniel Halls, has completed the sale of Arthur E. Mason Limited (trading as Masona Plastics) to global export business, Aspen Pumps Group.
Based in East Sussex and trading for over 70 years, family owned Masona Plastics manufactures plastic injection moulded components for a wide range of industries. The business distributes to customers in the UK, EU and North America. Rix & Kay’s team advised the owners and brothers, Ken and Neville Mason, in their 100% share capital sale which completed smoothly in March 2023.
Masona Plastics will continue to trade under its name, maintaining a strong reputation for quality that has been established through multiple generations of family ownership. Both Ken and Neville Mason will remain in the business to oversee operations.
The sale of Masona Plastics strengthens Aspen Pumps Group export and distribution network that already trades in over 100 countries worldwide and is the most extensive and well supported wholesaler partnership network in the world.
Commenting on the transaction, Kathryn Paisley said,
“Family owned businesses that have been through generations come with their own unique quirks that are often the secret to their success. It’s hugely satisfying to guide family members through a sale process when you know there is much more than just legal process that drives decision making. We worked collaboratively with all parties, took time to understand the nuances of the deal and the emotional drivers of the people involved”.
Rix & Kay’s team was supported by Partners from the firm’s Commercial Property Team (Richard Cripps) and Employment Team. Gopsall Services (Tax) and Tasker Osman (Accountants) also advised the sellers with Foot Anstey (legal) acting for the buyers.
