What is a Will and why make one?

A Will is a legal document that you create that sets out instructions for what happens to your Estate after you die. It is important to make a Will as if you die without one the intestacy laws shares out your Estate between different beneficiaries according to a fixed set of rules which may not be what you want. When you make a Will, you can decide who administers your Estate and how your Estate is dealt with.

A Will can enable you to put in place arrangements for your loved ones that suits them and your wishes, and you can make sure that the right people receive your Estate.  You can also use your Will to preserve and protect your property and also to minimise inheritance tax.
