Amy White celebrates International Women’s Day 2021
Over the course of next week, Rix & Kay will be celebrating International Women’s Day, where some of its women will be sharing who inspires them and what International Women’s Day means to them. Today Amy White shares her experiences.
Amy White was born in East London but moved to Brighton and Hove as a child. Having completed her A Levels, she moved to London and attended UCL, where she studied for and gained a Geography degree. Having little to no idea what to do with a Geography degree, she applied for junior positions with a number of local law firms during her final term at University and was offered a full time position with Gerard Maye Legal Limited, where she then spent seven years working in criminal defence. She was lucky enough to be sponsored through her Law Conversion and LPC by Gerard Maye Legal Limited and to commence her training contract with them, before joining Rix & Kay to complete her training contract, gaining experience in corporate, commercial and employment law. While she initially qualified into the Corporate Department, when a vacancy became available in the Employment Team, she jumped at the chance to take on a new role. Amy became an Associate in April 2018 and was promoted to Partner in September 2020. She heads up the Firm’s GatekeeperHR offering and is a member of the Firm’s Management Team. Outside of work, Amy enjoys watching and practicing ballet, going to the theatre and DIY, much to her husband’s delight.
What inspires me in my role?
“My Team. I’m inspired by those ahead of me, from whom I learn about people management and business planning and also those I manage, who inspire me with their commitment to their work, their innovation and ideas for how we can provide an even better service to our clients and their desire to keep learning and improving.”
