The Rt Hon Robert Jenrick MP has announced today (09 December 2020) that the moratorium on commercial businesses being protected from eviction has been extended to the 31 March 2021. This is said to be the final extension to protection from eviction although the government is clear that where a business can pay any or all of their rent the should so.
Further guidance is due to be published in support negotiations between landlords and tenant. Mr Jenrick has also announced a review of the commercial landlord and tenant legislation which will consider “how to enable better collaboration between landlords and tenants and also how to improve the leasing process…”
