Chartered Legal Executive - Brighton & Hove
The Lord Chancellor has proposed to enforcement agencies and bailiffs that no residential evictions will be allowed during Christmas. The stated period runs from 11 December to 11 January 2021 (subject to some exemptions yet to be confirmed) and where there are Covid-19 Tier 2 or 3 restrictions are in place.
It therefore appears that, in large areas of England (this does not yet apply to Wales) no evictions will be allowed for quite some time given the tier 2 or 3 restrictions are unlikely to be lifted imminently.
This is seen as another blow to Landlords eager to recover possession of their property and pursue evictions.
