…..but just how stressful is it? It is widely accepted that divorce, separation and a relationship breakdown are among the most stressful times in people’s lives – if not the most stressful. A new study from Michigan State University suggests that divorce hits the health of young people harder than it hits couples who have been together for a long time, showing that older people are more capable of dealing with the stress of separation.
There are very few clients that seek advice from a family lawyer who do not suffer from a certain degree of stress – caused as a result of so many things, for example, not knowing how their assets and income will be divided up after the separation, the worry about the loss of contact with children, and the huge uncertainty of simply not knowing what the future will have in store.
The Family Law team at Rix & Kay fully recognise what an emotional and stressful time it is for people dealing with a relationship breakdown. Not only are we able to help you deal with the huge range of legal issues that you will be asked to consider, but we also work closely with other professionals who can help deal with the emotional side of matters.
Rix & Kay are also proud of the fact that there are three Collaborative Lawyers in the Family team, who can offer clients an alternative to the traditional litigious approach of resolving divorce and separation issues, and if you would like more information about the Collaborative process then please contact:
